The Queensland Suns are proud to announce the appointment of Mel Cook and Grace-Adele Sutherland as Tour Managers for the 2026 AMMNA Championships in Perth. Together, they bring a proven partnership, complementary skill sets, and a shared commitment to building an environment where athletes can thrive on and off the court.
The Tour Manager role is a critical pillar of the Suns’ high-performance program, tasked with overseeing tour operations, athlete welfare, and logistics while upholding the values of professionalism, accountability, and respect. By appointing Mel and Grace, the Suns have secured two passionate netball administrators with the experience, people-first approach, and process-driven mindset needed to ensure seamless execution across every facet of the Suns campaign.
Mel and Grace have worked closely together across both the Suns organisation and externally, building trust and alignment in their partnership. Their combined strengths offer the best of both worlds. Both Mel and Grace emphasise the importance of building strong relationships with athletes, coaches, managers and all key stakeholders ahead of Nationals. By attending training sessions and embedding themselves in the squad environment, they will ensure the off-court organisation match the high-performance standards expected on the court.
“Having two leaders who know our culture, understand our values, and complement each other’s strengths is a huge win for the Suns,” said Queensland Suns President Darren Gillespie. “Mel and Grace bring stability, professionalism, and a genuine care for our athletes. We know they will set the tone for a successful and positive Nationals campaign.”
The AMMNA Championships, set for 3–12 April 2026 in Perth, will be the pinnacle event of the Suns’ season. With Mel and Grace at the helm of tour operations, we are confident the squad will be positioned to perform at its peak, supported by strong leadership, robust processes, and a focus on athlete wellbeing.
