Queensland Suns Announce Management Committee

Celebrating Our Outgoing Leaders & Welcoming the New Team

Celebrating Our Outgoing Leaders & Welcoming the New Team

The Queensland Suns proudly recognises the dedication, leadership, and commitment of our outgoing Management Committee, while welcoming the newly elected team who will guide the organisation into its next phase of growth.

Thank You to Our Outgoing Committee

Darren Gillespie – President (2023–2025)

Darren concludes his term as President after a period of significant evolution for the Queensland Suns—most notably through the transformation of M-League.

During his leadership, M-League progressed from a standalone competition, to operating side-by-side with HSS, and ultimately into a fully integrated partnership with Netball Queensland and the Hart Premier Netball League. This shift elevated visibility for men’s and mixed netball, strengthened relationships with key stakeholders, and cemented M-League’s place within Queensland’s broader netball ecosystem.

Darren also led a full governance review and delivered the organisation’s new constitution, modernising the Suns’ operational structure and laying strong foundations for long-term growth. He championed higher brand standards, professionalism, and strategic clarity, contributing to stronger pathways and a more unified organisational direction.

Tammy Holcroft – Vice President (Role Disestablished)

As part of our governance review, the Vice President position was formally retired, reflecting a restructuring of responsibilities within the organisation.

We are fortunate that Tammy will continue contributing her extensive experience and long-standing commitment to the Suns as a General Member. Her history across coaching, pathways, governance, and athlete welfare is invaluable to the association.

Jodie Garrity – Secretary (Role Disestablished)

We sincerely thank Jodie for her exceptional work ensuring the Suns met all governance and compliance requirements. Her reliability, integrity, and attention to detail strengthened our internal processes and supported smooth operations throughout her tenure.

Camille Dowling – Coaching Coordinator

While continuing in her role as Open Men’s A coach, Camille concludes her time as Coaching Coordinator.

Her implementation of a full-squad pre-season—bringing junior and senior athletes together—has strengthened connections, improved alignment, and fostered a united squad culture.

LeeAnn Quilter – Umpire Coordinator

We recognise LeeAnn for her service to umpire development over many years. Her contribution to mentoring officials and supporting their progression has added value to the umpiring community and to the Suns’ athlete pathways.

Welcome to the 2026 Queensland Suns Management Committee

Following the 2025 AGM, we are pleased to introduce the incoming elected committee members who will continue building on the organisation’s momentum and strategic direction.

President – Joseph Webb (2-year term)

Joseph brings extensive leadership experience from both corporate and sporting environments. His background in strategic planning, governance, commercial development, and stakeholder alignment positions him strongly to guide the Suns into a new phase of professional growth and long-term sustainability.

Treasurer – Mel Cook (1-year term)

Mel returns as Treasurer, bringing her exceptional organisational skill, financial expertise, and commitment to supporting athletes, volunteers, and programs. With more than 20 years of business and financial management experience, Mel continues to elevate the Suns’ financial operations with accuracy, transparency, and care.

General Management Committee Members

Grace-Adele Sutherland – 2-year term

Grace-Adele brings strong expertise in brand strategy, marketing, stakeholder engagement, and operational execution. As the organisation’s current Brand Lead, she has already contributed significantly to professionalising the Suns’ identity, strengthening communication frameworks, and supporting strategic initiatives that enhance the member experience.

Tammy Holcroft – 2-year term

Tammy continues her dedicated service to the Suns, drawing on 16+ years across coaching, pathways, governance, event delivery, and national-level roles. Her extensive organisational knowledge, athlete-first approach, and deep understanding of the sport’s evolution make her a valuable contributor to the committee.

Melissa Meagher – 1-year term

Melissa adds a fresh and community-minded perspective, supported by strengths in communication, organisation, member engagement, and program support. As a parent and past Tour Manager, she brings enthusiasm, practical skills, and a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and well-supported environment for athletes and volunteers.

Looking Forward

We extend our sincere thanks to every outgoing committee member for their contributions and leadership. Their collective work has strengthened the organisation and paved the way for continued progress across governance, pathways, and athlete experience.

As we welcome the new committee, the Queensland Suns look ahead to a year focused on growth, professionalism, visibility, and expanding opportunities for boys, men, mixed athletes, coaches, umpires, and volunteers across the state.

We thank our community for its ongoing support and look forward to an exciting year ahead.
