The 2025 AMMNA Championships in Melbourne marked another milestone for the Queensland Suns, with our teams delivering a week of spirited competition, sportsmanship, and state pride. Across all teams, the Suns showed resilience, unity, and the results of months of hard work - culminating in a nationals campaign we can all be proud of.
A particular highlight of this year’s tournament was our 17 & Under team, who made history by going undefeated throughout the championships to become National Champions - the first time Queensland has ever taken out the 17s title.
Coached and managed by a dedicated team of volunteers, the U17s journey began months ago with the selection of 12 athletes and eight training partners, ranging in age from 13 to 17. Players came from all corners of Queensland and beyond - Townsville, Toowoomba, Brisbane, Biloela, Hervey Bay, Noosa, Gladstone, and even Darwin - demonstrating the far-reaching passion for men’s and mixed netball across the state.
Despite challenges - including a devastating injury just days before departure - the team remained focused and determined. Their campaign featured dominant performances, including a 48-goal win over Tasmania and a strong 16-goal victory in the Grand Final. In a testament to their strength, four players were selected in the Australian squad, with three earning selections in the national team: Miller Page, Lachlan Brandon, and Ethan Krelle. Notably, Lachlan remains eligible for the 17s again in 2026.
Beyond the scoreboard, the 2025 campaign was underpinned by an army of volunteers, coaches, managers, and supporters who gave their time and energy to make this campaign possible. From the early-morning airport drop-offs to the tireless courtside support, your contribution is the heartbeat of our organisation - and we thank you deeply.
To all our Queensland Suns athletes across all teams, congratulations on your efforts. Whether you were winning games or simply playing your heart out each game, you’ve done your state proud.
With continued momentum and a bright future ahead, we can’t wait to see where 2026 takes us. But for now – we look forward to celebrating a campaign to remember on Sunday 29th June.
