Queensland Suns Continue to Rise with National Selections

The wait is over, trials for the 2026 Queensland Suns State Teams officially begin this weekend at Nissan Arena, marking the start of an exciting campaign to identify and develop the next wave of Suns athletes.

What to Expect

Across September, athletes will take the court in a series of fast-paced, high-intensity trial matches. Selectors will be looking for more than just technical ability, decision-making, teamwork, coachability, and leadership under pressure will all play a key role in selections. Athletes are also encouraged to embody the Suns culture of respect, hard work, and connection on and off the court

Building the 2026 Suns

The trials represent the first step towards assembling the Queensland Suns teams that will compete at the 2026 AMMNA National Championships. With record numbers of athletes expected, selectors face the challenge of not just finding the most talented individuals, but also building squads that embody the Suns’ high-performance standards and values.

Queensland Suns President Darren Gillespie encouraged athletes to seize the opportunity:

“Trials are a chance for athletes to showcase their skills, but also their character and commitment. Every year, the standard rises, and we’re excited to see who will put their hand up to represent Queensland on the national stage in 2026.”

The Queensland Suns look forward to welcoming all trialists this weekend as the journey to 2026 begins.
