The countdown is over, the 2025 Mixed M League is set to launch this month, with Round 1 taking place on Thursday 25 September and Friday 26 September. Now in its second year under the revamped format, the competition has nearly doubled in size, cementing its place as one of the fastest-growing platforms for mixed netball in Queensland.
This season, the Mixed M League will feature an incredible 60 teams across six divisions, up from 37 in 2024. With approximately 720 athletes taking part, the competition represents a landmark moment for the development of mixed netball, both at the grassroots and high-performance levels.
The divisions for 2025 include:
14 & Under
16 & Under
18 & Under
23 & Under
Opens Division 1
Opens Division 2
This nine-week competition, culminating in finals, will see the Opens and 23&U Grand Finals contested on Friday 5 December, followed by the 14&U, 16&U, and 18&U Grand Finals on Thursday 11 December.
The rapid expansion of the Mixed M League highlights the rising popularity of mixed formats and the Suns’ commitment to inclusive opportunities. From humble beginnings with just six Opens teams in its inaugural season, the competition now offers a full junior pathway, giving young athletes the chance to grow, compete, and aspire to higher honours within mixed netball.
Queensland Suns President Darren Gillespie praised the growth of the league:
“The Mixed M League is a game-changer for our sport. To see it grow from just six teams to 60 in only a few years is phenomenal. More importantly, it’s providing opportunities for boys and girls to play together, for young talent to emerge, and for associations to embrace men’s and mixed netball as part of their programs.”
A defining feature of the competition is its partnership approach, integrating Netball Queensland associations, clubs, coaches, and umpires into the league’s structure. This collaboration not only raises the quality of the competition but also builds capacity at the community level. By fostering inclusive formats and embedding male players, the Mixed M League is playing a vital role in shaping a stronger, more diverse netball landscape in Queensland.
The 2025 season promises nine weeks of fast, skilful, and high-energy netball, showcasing both established talent and the next generation of Suns athletes.
