Men’s M League Wraps Up a Season to Remember

Updated: Oct 10

Queensland Suns Continue to Rise with National Selections

The 2025 Men’s M League season has officially drawn to a close, capping off one of the most exciting and competitive years yet for elite men’s netball in Queensland. From intense rivalries to thrilling upsets, the season showcased the depth, skill, and passion of athletes driving the game forward across South East Queensland.

This year’s competition saw the Brisbane South Wildcats dominate the regular season, remaining undefeated all the way to the Grand Final. But in true M League fashion, the final showdown delivered a dramatic twist. Facing off against Moreton Bay Pulse, the Wildcats were pushed to their limits in a high-intensity clash that went goal-for-goal in the final quarter until the last whistle. Pulse’s fearless, nothing-off-limits approach saw them edge out the Wildcats by a single goal.

Beyond the on-court action, the season marked a significant milestone for the Queensland Suns and the broader men’s and mixed netball community, being the first conducted in partnership with the HART Sapphire Series (HPNL) clubs. This alignment strengthened the pathway for athletes, offering greater visibility, development opportunities, and integration within Queensland’s high-performance netball ecosystem.

Looking ahead, plans are already underway for an even bigger 2026 season.

“This year has been a huge step forward for men’s netball in Queensland,” said Queensland Suns President, Darren Gillespie. “The quality of competition, the professionalism of our athletes, and the success of our partnership with the HPNL clubs have set a new benchmark. Next season, we’re aiming to expand to up to eight teams, giving even more athletes the chance to compete at this level while maintaining our strong partnership with Netball Queensland.”

The 2026 M League season will again be run jointly by the Queensland Suns and Netball Queensland, with HPNL clubs conducting open trials and team selections in the lead-up to the season.

As men's netball continues to gain momentum, this year’s competition has reaffirmed the M League’s vital role in developing Queensland’s elite male and mixed netball talent — and the future looks brighter than it has before.
