Regional boys netball development

The Queensland Suns would like to partner with regional Netball Queensland affiliations, enabling a mutually supportive relationship to nurture greater participation and pathways for male players in regional Queensland.

We seek to unlock the potential of Men's and Mixed Netball in Queensland by creating pathways for all individuals from grassroots to high performance.

In 2022, we piloted an innovative delivery model to regional Queensland, to enable the Queensland Suns to create and embrace an inclusive and professional environment that will underpin our collective future growth.

We seek your assistance and partnership to support regional representation at the 2023 Australian Men’s and Mixed Netball Association’s National Champions.

Our objectives

Our primary objective to create opportunities for boys in regional Queensland to play netball and establish pathways for them to represent Queensland at the 2023 Australian Men’s & Mixed Championships each year in the follow divisions:

  • 23 and Under Men’s

  • 20 and Under Men’s

  • 17 and Under Men’s

In addition, we are looking to establish regular development clinics in regional hubs and provide additional representative opportunities for regional boys to participate in events, competitions  programs offered by the Queensland Suns.

Our approach

  1. Connect and establish relationship with regional associations.

  2. Determine interest and participation numbers of boys

  3. Determine boys ages and locations

  4. Create a development framework to build pathways into the Queensland Suns

  5. Establish training clinics in regional hub

  6. Develop and grow participation and localised coaches

Training requirements

  • If we have enough interest and are able to create a Queensland Suns regional boys team, these players will be required to attend two training camps held in Brisbane.
